Historic Village of Roebling Walking Tour
Village Sampler Tour
April 23, 2017
$15:00/person (Includes Museum Admission)
Join former education teacher and member of the Roebling Museum board emeritus, George Lengel, and former park ranger, Doug Kiovsky, as they take visitors on a trip through time to experience what life was like living and working in a model company town during the first half of the 20th century.
This tour will explore the perimeter of the village and sites west of Sixth Avenue; the former slag deposit area and its incorporation into beautified Roebling Park; location of the Boy Scout hut, clay tennis courts and “pest” house; the creation of the Roebling Public School, the Recreation Center, and Roebling Ball Park heroes. The tour will also include the interior of the Roebling Auditorium and its marvelous technology as one of the country’s earliest public structures installed with air-conditioning.
This is the second in a series of three distinctly unique one and a half hour walking tours covering different areas of the Village of Roebling.
Tours depart from the lobby of the museum.
The next tour in this series will take place on May 6.
