Emily Roebling STEAM Day Camp!

August 7 – 11, 2017

10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

$250 per camper for non-members; $230 per camper for Roebling Museum Members

Explore the World of Bridge Engineering this Summer!

The Roebling Museum is excited to host its 5th annual summer camp, August 7 –11, 2017 from 10:00am – 3:00pm daily. The Emily Roebling STEAM Day Camp, will once again invite young minds to explore engineering, technology and history on the grounds of the Roebling Museum.

Named for Emily Warren Roebling, the courageous wife of Washington Roebling, who helped to build the Brooklyn Bridge and became the world’s first female Field Engineer, the Emily Roebling STEAM Day Camp is open to elementary and middle school girls and boys in 5th thru 8th grades.  Guided by experienced STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) and museum educators, students will discover the science of bridge, civil and structural engineering. These well-rounded junior engineers will also learn about the history of the Roebling factory, village, and workers. They will learn about the technology behind famous Roebling products like wire rope, and acquire the engineering skills needed to design and build their own structures.

In response to parent and student demand, this year’s camp has been extended to 5 days. As always, parents and guardians are invited and encouraged to arrive early for pick-up on the last day of camp, to see and enjoy the camp-goers’ final products, and to celebrate their accomplishments. Activities during the week will include a field trip, t-shirt-making, hands-on STEM labs and experiments, and opportunities to meet and work with experienced and emerging STEM/STEAM professionals.

Camp registration forms are available on the Museum’s website or at the museum.  Tuition for the week includes daily lunch and snacks, and is $250 per camper for Non-Members, $230 per camper for Roebling Museum Members. Through the generosity of the New Jersey Historical Commission (a division of the Department of State), several regional foundations, corporate sponsors, and private donors, Roebling Museum makes camp tuition scholarships available for students eligible for free and reduced lunch. Parent(s)/guardian(s) seeking camp tuition support are asked to provide a written request, addressed to the camp director. Email Caren Cronin, Camp Director, at caren.cronin@roeblingmuseum.org for more information.

You may pay by credit card on-line but applications must be emailed to Caren Cronin at the address above or mailed to the Roebling Museum, PO Box 9, Roebling, NJ 08554 by the August 1 deadline.
