See two of the videos submitted to the Roebling Museum by the Technology Education and iSTEM majors from TCNJ, The College of New Jersey. Students worked in teams to design and develop four different ideas for hands-on STEAM activities with an architecture or engineering focus. They also researched the contributions of women in STEAM careers and fields of study, to give our program participants a sense of how women throughout time have impacted science, technology, engineering, arts/architecture/aesthetics, and mathematics.
In honor of National Engineers Week (February 18-24, 2018) and in honor of national Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (February 22, 2018) TCNJ students will visit the Roebling Museum for our Kids Create: Pillars, Rafters and Facades! STEM Saturdays event on Saturday, February 24th from 10am-4pm. We’ve chosen two of their cool activities for our visitors to participate in. We hope you’ll visit with the girls and boys you know, who are budding engineers and architects of the future! The event will also include a bridge builder lab, a mini-catapult making lab, and STEAM-focused story-time with “Miss Rosie” (as in “the riveter”…). We’ll be sharing stories written by author Andrea Beaty that encourage children to think and pursue STEAM!
(Note: This is not a drop-off event. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while they are on site at the Museum.)
