Roebling Museum to Host Christmas in Roebling on Saturday, December 9, 2017
Featuring Guided Tours of the Historic Village of Roebling
The Roebling Museum and the Roebling Garden Club are teaming up again to host Christmas in Roebling, a very special holiday event in the historic village of Roebling, NJ from 11:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday, December 9, 2017.
As part of a full day of family-friendly fun and holiday cheer, visitors will be admitted to the Museum FREE of charge. Christmas in Roebling will include a toy-making workshop with kits provided by Delran Lowe’s store #1670. There will also be other, free holiday crafts for the young and young-at-heart throughout the day. The museum will be festively decorated with lights and holiday trees provided by local schools, scouts, churches, organizations and businesses. Santa Claus will arrive at the museum at 12:30pm, and will visit with guests until 3pm, with holiday goodie bags provide by the Roebling Garden Club. Free holiday treats, such as warm apple cider and donuts, will be available during the event, courtesy of Delicious Orchards, and from 11am-2pm, Wawa Store #921 in Florence Township will serve up FREE coffee to keep visitors warm and toasty. Children can also hear a story and play the Elf-on-a-shelf game with our student volunteers from Florence Township Memorial High School. And families can take a history hay ride through the village, courtesy of the Fritz Wainwright family! (There is no charge for hay rides, but donations will be accepted.)
As another special feature of this year’s holiday extravaganza, Guided Walking Tours of the Historic Village of Roebling will be available for $5 at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. Participants will walk the streets of this uniquely built model company town – one of the most intact and successful historic towns, built as employee housing, remaining in America. They will also have the opportunity to visit an historic home and a number of other historic buildings throughout the village, including Szucs’ Meat Market and the Roebling Auditorium/Amusement Hall, providing an inside view of how employees and their families lived, and the exquisite architecture, design and detail that made the homes and the village so welcoming. The village of Roebling and the Roebling Museum are part of a Preserve America Community, which encourages and supports community efforts to preserve and enjoy our priceless cultural and natural heritage. Tickets for the tour are available at the museum. Advance tickets are also available online, at www.roeblingmuseum.org.
The Roebling Museum is dedicated to telling the story of the John A. Roebling’s Sons Company located in Roebling and Trenton, the village of Roebling, the innovations and technological achievements of the family that changed the industrialized world, and the many people who lived and worked in the company town.
The Roebling Museum received an Operating Support Grant from the New Jersey Historical Commission, a division of the Department of State. Szucs’ Meat Market is a sponsor of the 2017 Christmas in Roebling event. Generous support is also provided by Roma Bank Community Foundation, PSEG Foundation, Investors Foundation, MKM Foundation, and NJM Insurance.
